Moving from Miami, FL to Tampa, FL
Miami to Tampa is a 280-mile cross-state run via I-75 north then west on I-4, about 4.5 hours road time. We run 5-7 of these a month, mostly retirees, GenX families moving for school zones, and the increasing wave of cross-state moves driven by Tampa’s housing-market and job-market growth. Same-truck, same-crew, single-day operation for most jobs.
What’s different about Miami → Tampa
- Tampa Bay is destination-diverse. South Tampa (Hyde Park, Davis Islands), North Tampa (Westchase, Carrollwood), St. Pete proper, Pinellas beaches, Clearwater, Brandon, Riverview — different access, different building rules.
- Less HOA bureaucracy. Most Tampa destinations are single-family or townhomes; condo destinations (Channelside, Bayshore) do require COIs.
- Tampa traffic. Crosstown Expressway and I-275 have specific peak-hour bottlenecks — we plan arrival around 10 AM-2 PM windows to avoid them.
